I wanted to provide an update on the terrorist attack that occurred on our branch of the District Line at Parson’s Green station this morning as I know many local residents use the District Line and may have been caught up in the incident.
At around 8:20 this morning police and emergency services were called to Parson’s Green station following reports of a fire on a tube train. This explosion has now been declared a terrorist incident and Counter Terrorism Officers continue to investigate. This evening the terror threat level was raised to critical, its highest level. Residents will see an increase in police presence to provide extra protection.
If you saw something or have any information that might help police in their investigation please contact the information hotline on 0800 789 321; if it's an emergency always call 999. Anyone with images from the scene is asked to upload them to www.ukpoliceimageappeal.co.uk. For those who were sadly caught up in this morning’s events, if you need any support you can talk to someone by calling The Sarah Hope Line on 0343 222 567.
Further updates will be available on the Metropolitan Police’s website at http://news.met.police.uk/ and on Twitter @MetPoliceUK.
Finally, I’d like to thank our fantastic emergency services who responded quickly and continue to work hard to keep us all safe, and my thoughts are with those affected by this cowardly attack on our community.
