This week I joined Tideway and local residents to formally open the temporary slipway for the Tideway Tunnel project along Putney foreshore. Access to the river is a vital part of the community in Putney and I am really pleased to see the new slipway open in time for the summer.
The Thames Tideway Tunnel is an essential infrastructure project for London, and will have a hugely positive impact on the river’s health and quality. As it enters its main construction phase, it’s very welcome that Tideway is engaging with the local residents and businesses and keeping disruption to a minimum whilst this vital work takes place. I’m also proud of the dedication from members of my Tideway Tunnel Community Liaison Working Group who have worked with Tideway and I for several years to make sure the works are carried out in the best way possible for our community.
The programme of works will now begin from September and will last for six months. If you have any concerns about the work, Tideway have a 24 hour helpdesk where you can report any problems.
