As your Member of Parliament for Putney, Roehampton and Southfields, I regularly meet with healthcare providers such as Wandsworth Primary Care Trust and St George's Hospital. At those meetings I am able to not just pursue individual constituents’ concerns but also discuss how local NHS providers are coping with government mandated changes they are being asked to implement.

To represent our community well, it is very important for me to make sure that I have a balanced view of our local healthcare needs and how well they are being met. That is why I am now asking for your help. By completing my enclosed MP Community Healthcare Survey it will help make sure I have the best possible picture of residents’ views on healthcare provision across our community.

As you may know there are a number of changes planned for the NHS which will affect our services locally, such as the introduction of polyclinics in Wandsworth. Also, we have the redevelopment of the Putney Hospital site, now derelict for 10 years, though work is finally planned to start next summer. A variety of issues, including access to GPs and local dentists, as well as family planning, maternity services and sexual health provision have all been raised with me as an MP, over the past three years.

I think it is important for me to get a balanced view from other residents of how well we feel healthcare is provided locally. I would like to be able to find out not only where you have concerns and would like to see healthcare improvements but also, just as critically, to know where you feel the service is doing well. By completing my MP Community Healthcare Survey, I can get the widest possible picture of what our community thinks about local healthcare provision. The results will really help me work effectively with local healthcare providers to get an even better service for our community and to make sure that where there are healthcare issues, they get tackled.
